World Book Kids: The mammal I looked up was lions. I like the easy format and explanations they had for younger children. Great features like hearing the text read out loud, how to cite, related websites, videos and maps were all impressive. We were asked to look for information on habitat and there was not an actual subject of habitat.
World Book Student: The world book student had the subject broken down into more sub topics that were more detailed. The information about habitat was clearly in its own section. Again this still had all the great features a student may need for a report including pictures, maps, videos, double clicking on words to learn the definition and how to cite the works. The related websites would also be helpful as most teachers ask for more than one source.
World Book Advanced: I searched the country Ireland. There was much information including maps, pictures and videos, history and many other subjects. Depending on what the library patron is looking for what features would be most helpful. Students would be interested in how to cite the works would be most helpful. Anyone wanting to find out more about the history of Ireland would find a great deal of information here. Someone wanting to visit Ireland would get use of the maps and climate information.
World Book Discover: Finding an article about the US government was suprisingly easy. Only a few clicks and there were lots to chose from. On the left hand side of the page with one click of the button you could change the article into just about any language you wanted.
With all the World Books I especially liked the feature at the bottom of the page that let you go from one World Book to another.
Great post! You've made some excellent discoveries in World Book. As you discovered, the World Book Kids articles are quite short and age appropriate. World Book Student has more detailed articles.
